Börsen-Zeitung (BOZ) in Frankfurt, Germany is now live on the Atex H-11 editorial content management platform. BOZ is the only daily newspaper in Germany that focuses exclusively on the stock market and financial sectors. Covering eight regional stock exchanges and global financial markets, each edition of BOZ typically has 44-54 pages. Other print publications in the BOZ group include Ultimo, a monthly magazine of the Exchange Fund; Return, the quarterly investment magazine of the German stock market; and numerous special supplements published throughout the year. Congratulations to the H-Series team responsible for this successful go-live.Erdee Media Group (EMG) went live on the latest Atex AdBase advertising platform. EMG publishes Reformatorisch Dagblad and www.refdag.nl, the leading Protestant newspaper and website in the Netherlands. EMG is an impressive media company and a great Atex success story, having implemented Atex Content for editorial, Atex Web CMS for its websites, and AdBase for advertising. Aldert Nagel acknowledges the work from the AdBase teams in Florida, Sweden and the Netherlands, with special thanks to Amy Hampton, who managed the installation and go-live effort.Mediabolaget Västkustens (MBVK), part of the Stampen Group, went live this week with the Atex Advertising platform and OneView browser-based user interface for a total of 110 ad sales, production, marketing and business users.The Art and Soul restaurant in Washington, DC launched its mobile site on Wednesday (http://www.artandsouldc.com/mobile/). Art and Soul is part of the Denihan Hospitality Group, which is rolling out the Atex Polopoly Web CMS platform for all its hotel and restaurant websites and mobile sites.Late last year, we signed a five-year deal with Omnipress in Madison, Wisconsin for a hosted Atex Polopoly Web CMS solution. Omnipress was founded in 1977 and has become one of the best-known companies in the association and meetings industry. Their business encompasses printing, collecting abstracts online, managing online knowledge centers, and creating digital content on CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs and flash drives. In addition, Omnipress builds websites for their client’s businesses specifically pertaining to seminars, tradeshows etc. That’s where Atex comes in. Omnipress selected Atex Polopoly to create more than 200 customer websites for their seminar and trade show business. This week, the first Omnipress site went live on the Polopoly platform for the Society of Wetland Scientists’ conference website. http://sws2013.conferencespot.org/This week in western Canada, two new sites in the Glacier Media Group went live on the Atex Polopoly Web CMS platform. The Tofino Ucluelet Westerly, in Ucluelet, British Columbia went live on Polopoly for its http://www.westerlynews.ca website. The Westerly News is a weekly newspaper and news media website serving the Tofino and Ucluelet communities on the west coast of Vancouver Islands Pacific Rim. The second Glacier Media site to go live this week is the Alberni Valley Times, in Port Alberni, British Columbia and the new website is http://www.avtimes.net. The Alberni Valley Times is a daily broadsheet newspaper and website located in the Vancouver Island town of Port Alberni.Il Giornale di Brescia completed this week the go-live of H-Series 11.10, Anthology and the migration to Polopoly 10.6 Il Giornale di Brescia is a leading regional newspaper, which three years ago started the digital conversion adopting Polopoly and have now extended the digital workflow to their entire staff (80 people) by implementing a multi-channel environment with H-Series version 11. Using the latest version of Newsroom that sports the new Ribbon UI and Pad Mode editing, editors are able to tailor content for their digital and print publications with a two-channel approach. With this change they also moved to a Linux/Intel system architecture completely virtualized on VMWare.This week we completed the go-live activities of H-Series 11 and Anthology for three monthly magazines of Gruppo Espresso: Gruppo Espresso own Mente&Cervello and the Italian versions of Scientific American and National Geographic. The publications are produced with Adobe CS Suite (InDesign, InCopy and Photoshop) version 5.5. Other publications are now scheduled for go live in the coming weeks.This week the whole digital infrastructure of the Finegil network of regional newspapers (18 titles across Italy) has been completely virtualized with VMWare and upgraded to Polopoly 10.6. The double shot required proper planning and synchronization of all the parties involved and it has been performed without a hiccup. Ben fatto! Complimenti!The first site in the Denihan Hospitality Group’s Polopoly installation went live this week. Check it out at http://www.artandsouldc.com/ Denihan Hospitality Group is a nationally-recognized, independent owner and operator of boutique hotels and restaurants in top urban markets. The Denihan portfolio includes hotels, bars and restaurants operated under The James and Affinia hotels brands, as well as luxury properties like The Surrey and The Benjamin, and other independent hotels including The Franklin and The Mansfield in New York City. Starting with this launch of Art and Soul, the Atex Polopoly Web CMS will be deployed on more than 20 Denihan websites. Denihan selected Atex as an enterprise platform that will provide greater agility, faster time-to-market for launching new websites, and a customizable user experience.The McClatchy Group went live this week on its first AdBase-E site for self-service advertising at The State newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina. The site can be found at: http://mcadbasee.mcclatchy.com/webbase/en/std/jsp/WebBaseMain.do McClatchy is the third largest newspaper company in America. The Atex AdBase Advertising system is being installed now at all McClatchy properties throughout the United States.Just a few weeks ago, GNF reported that Ian Baynes and our EMEA team signed a deal with Vecherniye Vesti in the Ukraine for an Atex P-Series Content Management system. Well, the project went live this week. By all recollections, this is the fastest contract-to-delivery-to-launch of an Atex editorial system in our company’s history. Founded in 1999 and based in Kiev, Vecherniye Vesti is a 530,000 circulation tabloid Russian newspaper. The first edition of Vesti went live on P-Series earlier this week, less than three weeks after we received the signed contract. Congratulations to the entire Atex team responsible for this impressive, record-setting go-live.The new website for Sempre Editora (http://www.otempo.com.br/) went live this past Saturday. The project was developed on Polopoly v10.6 using the “Greenfield Times” design. Customizations were done by Atex and the O Tempo team. Bruno do Val Benes, Webmaster at O Tempo said, “At dawn, we turned the new Internet portal O Tempo. Not just the graphic design, but also the new management system, the new concept of integration, the new way to interact and above all, the new stance of the vehicle itself. Given the size of the project, I can say that the turn was a total success! … I am sure it will not be the long before the portal for O Tempo will become a major reference for quality content on the web, launching concepts and informing not only in Minas Gerais, but also across the country.”This week, our friends at DC Thomson in Scotland extend their relationship with Atex by upgrading their P-Series system to Adobe Creative Suite 6.0. This deal represents a six-figure software order for Atex-supplied Adobe third-party licenses as part of the media company’s plan to modernize its entire publishing platform. The implementation work will be carried out over the next few weeks. This project complements the recent Polopoly and P-Series deployments at DC Thomson properties.Pete Lewis has secured an order with North Jersey Media Group (NJMG) for a P-Series upgrade, including OneView and Polopoly integration. NJMG has been an Atex customer since 1979. The company produce two daily newspapers, 30+ weeklies, and numerous specialty magazines. This is a large project, with 289 NJMG users moving from QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign and Creative Suite as part of this upgrade.This past weekend, Pioneer Press in St Paul, Minnesota upgraded to AdBase version 3.5, making it the first in the Media News group to upgrade to this release. Over the next couple of months, four other Media News properties (York, PA; Lowell, MA; the New England Newspaper group; and the Texas/New Mexico newspapers) also plan to go live on the AdBase 3.5 release. The St. Paul Pioneer Press is the 32nd largest newspaper in the United States, with 200,000 daily circulation and over 250,000 on Sunday.Johnston Press in the UK this week announced that the company has achieved its first increase in operating profit in more than seven years. During this period, Johnston Press re-launched 183 of its newspaper titles and rolled out new websites for each of them (all powered by Atex technology!). As a result, total digital audience for the company has grown by 16.4% in April to reach 11.6M. Digital revenues have grown by 32.2% during this period. Ashley Highfield, Johnston Press CEO, said, “While the economic environment continued to be challenging, the implementation of our strategy progressed further with the successful completion of the relaunch of the vast majority of our titles, together with the further development of our digital business and the rollout of hardware and software to all sales staff and journalists.”The Irish Times has completely transitioned its business from print to multiplatform publication – all powered by Atex technology – while upholding the journalistic principles that earned it the reputation as Ireland’s paper of reference. The Irish Times is now 100% live with Atex H-11 for Editorial Content Management, Polopoly 10.6 as its Web platform, and Temis for text mining and content enrichment. Project Manager, Aldert Nagel said: “This was a huge projects with many challenges in terms of people, process and culture, a new website design as well as a combined effort to roll out a new desktop platform. With these solutions live we are developing our solution further working on microsite enhancements and some consultancy around digital-first newsroom transformation.”Last week, representatives from Fairfax Media attended our Atex Audience (Matrix) Australia-Pacific User Group meeting in Wellington, New Zealand. The meeting was attended by users and executives from all the major Atex Audience customers in the region. Product Manager Paul Schofield shared with the group the future for their existing Matrix systems, including with a comprehensive demonstration of the OneView platform, key functionality, and our use of web services in the customer self-service module. Paul said, “The new browser based solution, as well as the web service capability, were very well received by the group and planning for testing upgrading is already under discussion at several sites.”Last month, Atex attended the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) exhibition in Las Vegas. As reported previously, this was a really successful show for Atex, and we met with TV and radio broadcasters from around the globe who expressed great interest in our Web Content Management and Advertising solutions.
